Municipal chairpersons asked to remove fake beneficiaries

June 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 03:14 pm IST - Kolkata:

Trinamool Congress leadership today asked chairpersons of all TMC-controlled municipalities and municipal corporations to remove fake beneficiaries from the list of BPL card holders.

“We have told the municipalities to speed up developmental work. Every three months, we will hold such meetings. The list of BPL card holders in their respective areas should be done properly.

Those who are the genuine cases should be the real beneficiaries. In areas where drinking water is a problem, it should be solved immediately,” senior TMC leader Firhad Hakim told reporters.

The chairpersons of the 110 TMC-controlled municipalities and municipal corporations attended today’s meeting.

TMC sources present in the meeting claimed that the party leadership had given strict instructions to stay away from infighting as it is “hampering” developmental work in certain areas. —PTI
