Mukul Roy unlikely to be quizzed again in Saradha probe

Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Roy is unlikely to be questioned again in Saradha ponzi scam or named as an accused, according to Special Crime Branch of CBI probing the case.

“We are neither concerned about Mukul Roy nor do we have any plans of either calling him again for interrogation or naming him as an accused in the case,” a CBI source told PTI.

Earlier, Roy was summoned by the CBI sleuths for questioning on January 30 for the first time this year fuelling speculation that he would arrested by the agency as had happened in the case of West Bengal government cabinet minister Madan Mitra who was still now in jail custody seeking bail. Mitra was indentified as a ‘key conspirator’ in the Saradha scam case.

Roy had then told newsmen after the interrogation that he would be fully cooperating with the agency officials when called again and told the CBI “that the actual truth should come out“.

Subsequently Roy, a key organiser of the Trinamool Congress, was stripped of the post of all-India general secretary and other positions that he held in his capacity.

But his membership with the party continued.

So far, CBI had filed several chargesheets in the case indicting Mitra and others namely Saradha owner Sudipto Sen, suspended Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh and others.
