: The first day of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBBSE) 2015, which began on Monday, was marred by incidents of mass copying from various parts of the State.
The incidents of mass copying were also reported from various schools in Uttar Dinajpur, Malda in north Bengal and Birbhum in south Bengal. Local news channels aired video footage of how outsiders were climbing the walls of the school and reaching the classroom on the second floor at Rampurhat High School in Birbhum district.
Administrator of WBBSE Kalyanmoy Ganguly said that SDO of Rampurhat was on the spot, and the outsiders were chased away. He added that the windows of the school on the second floor were closed.
The reports of mass copying were reported last year too and the authorities of WBBSE had made use of mobile video vans to keep a check.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Partha Chatterjee too had to face questions on the Madhyamik examination from the Opposition in the Assembly.
Answering a question from CPI (M) MLA of Rampurhat Rameshwar Dolui on why the number of Madhymik examinees dipped by 15,000 this year, Mr. Chatterjee said, “A section of the media is trying to bring negative light, but actually it is the effect of the number of compartmental candidates going down this year by over 11,000.”
