In yet another embarrassment for All India Trinamool Congress Government, which is grappling with protests over the violence at Makra village in Birbhum district, a district court on Friday recommended the removal of Officer-in-Charge of Panrui police station probing the violence.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Suri Court, Indranil Chatterjee, ordered suspension of Kartik Mohan Ghosh, Officer-in-Charge of the police station, for showing the arrest of an accused twice before the Court.

An accused in the Makra violence Ali Jinna was arrested on October 24 and produced for the second time on October 30.

Commenting on the developments, assistant public prosecutor Kuntal Chattopadhyay said the police officer did accept in the Court that it was a mistake.

Appearing for the accused, counsel Moloy Mukherjee asked how his client was arrested from his residence when he was in police custody.

Meanwhile, delegations of the BJP and the Left Front knocked on the doors of Governor K N Tripathi calling for his intervention in the violence.

BJP activists blockaded the vital Howrah bridge and staged demonstrations at Raiganj and Malda in the northern part of the State.
