Six Left parties will be launching a week-long agitation througout the country to protest against the “communal policies” of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Left Front committee chairperson Biman Basu said here on Sunday.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Revolutionary Socialist Party, All India Forward Bloc, Socialist Unity Centre of India (Marxist-Leninist) and Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) will be demonstrating from December 8 to December 14, Mr. Basu said.

“Street corner meetings and demonstrations will be held during the week. An agitation will be held in Kolkata on December 11 near Metro cinema in Central Kolkata,” he said.

He announced that the Left Front would be opposing the special session in the State Assembly, called on Monday, to pass the West Bengal Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Amendment Bill, which enables private players to enter rural marketing hubs.
