The Trinamool Congress government’s bid to make students’ bodies in educational institutions “apolitical” sparked protests at Jadavpur University (JU) with the students gheraoing Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das and other officials.
The gherao that began on Thursday continued till late on Friday evening.
While the JU authorities said they would convey the students’ objections to the State government, the agitating students refused to budge from their demand that the executive council mention their objection against the notification.
