The Kolkata Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau busted a drug trafficking racket on Monday and arrested three persons, including a disc jockey of a prominent night club in the city.

Two of the accused — Henry Lawrence Manna and Robert Dixon — were arrested near the Sealdah railway station. On the information received from the duo, the NCB officers arrested Nikhil Lakhwani, the DJ who, according to the investigators, acted as a conduit between the peddlers and the customers.

“They (the accused) were involved in this racket for over seven to eight months and were supplying drugs in the city party circles. We are hopeful of more arrests in the case,” said Dilip Kumar Srivastava, zonal director, NCB.

About 2.5 kg of hashish, worth ₹15 lakh in the drugs market, has been sized from the accused. While 2 kg was seized when it was changing hands near Sealdah station, another 450 grams was seized from Mr. Dixon’s house in Ballygunge in South Kolkata.

He said the accused had planned to sell the drugs during Christmas and New Year. They were also involved in the illegal sale of LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide), a psychedelic drug.
