Actor and president of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) women’s wing Roopa Ganguly was attacked at Kakdwip subdivision in South 24 Paraganas district near Kolkata on Sunday. BJP leaders alleged that Ms. Ganguly was attacked by “a group of Trinamool Congress (TMC) activists.”

A team from the BJP headed by Ms. Ganguly had visited Kakdwip to meet party workers who were injured during a clash violence that broke out post-results. South 24 Parganas BJP President Abhijit Das was also injured in the mishap.

“TMC activists assaulted us, while returning from the hospital where the injured BJP activists were admitted. Roopa got injured in the mishap”, Mr. Das told The Hindu.

Reacting to this incident BJP's West Bengal president, Dilip Ghosh said, “We will not take this lying down and we would take this matter up with the authorities. I would request TMC leaders to keep a tab on its party members and maintain peace in the State”.
