‘A regime of chaos’

December 17, 2014 08:06 am | Updated 08:06 am IST - KOLKATA:

Bengal is now under a regime of chaos and hysteria, said journalist M. J. Akbar, who recently joined the BJP.

“Till the 1960s, West Bengal was the paramount State. It was then degraded by the extreme Leftists, which led to stagnation. The State is now under chaos and hysteria,” Mr. Akbar said here on Tuesday at the sidelines of an event to commemorate the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.

In the wake of the accidental blast at Khagragarh at Bardhaman district, which brought up allegations of a Bangaldeshi militant group’s involvement in it, Mr Akbar alleged that the West Bengal government under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was encouraging terrorism.
