: A day after he was removed from the post of all India general secretary of Trinamool Congress, Mukul Roy on Sunday said leaders who replaced him in different positions “are more competent than him”, but time would tell if the decision was correct.

Will work for party

Stressing that he very much remained an MP and would continue to work for the party, Mr. Roy told reporters at his Kanchrapara residence in North 24 Parganas district on Sunday that it would be a new beginning for the party.

The party’s ad hoc committee has decided this... I have no qualms and I don’t have anything to comment on this. But I will say that only time will tell whether this was a right decision or a wrong one,” said Mr Roy, one-time close aide of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.

He said whether he would remain in the TMC or not “depends on the party”.

“I have not left the people and fled. I am very much with the people. I only want to be with people and continue to work for them,” Roy added.
