ITC Ltd is planning to set up multi-speciality hospitals.

It is also open to lease, acquire or manage organisations in the healthcare business, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Known mostly for cigarettes, ITC has been marking an increasing presence in hotels, paper, agri-business and a slew of non-cigarette FMCG segments.

Healthcare is a new diversification, which was approved by the Board at the meeting on third quarter results.

ITC said that this initiative would leverage its knowledge and experience in the hospitality and tourism sector and can be utilised for supporting 'medical tourism’ for the country.
