The coaches for the much expected ‘Uday Express’ (Utkrisht double-decker air-conditioned Yatri Express) will finally reach Coimbatore on Friday at about 9.40 p.m.

This will be the first day train between Coimbatore and Bengaluru -- others are just passing trains.

The coaches that arrive from Chennai would be retained in Coimbatore for its maiden run on Coimbatore-Bengaluru-Coimbatore sector during next week. The exact date of inaugural run is awaited.

The first rake of the new double-decker train was rolled out from the Perambur Carriage Workshop a few days ago.

The 22666Coimbatore-Bengaluru Uday Express will leave Coimbatore at 5.45 a.m. to reach Bengaluru at 12.40 p.m.

The 22665Bengaluru-Coimbatore Uday Express will leave Bengaluru at 2.15 p.m to reach Coimbatore at 9 p.m. The trains will have stops at Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem.

The coaches will have automatic food vending machines besidesa pantry area. It has colourful exteriors and swanky interiors. The train will have 14 coaches, of these four will have pantry.

The exterior of coaches has vinyl wrapping to prevent graffiti, and cleanliness.

Toilets will have modular fittings.

The coaches have a seating capacity of 120, and those with pantry will have 104 seats. The coaches will have WiFi, GPS-based Passenger Information System through LCD display, diffused LEDs, and solar reflective coating on the roof.

The speed test of the train was conducted during the third week of December 2017 between Coimbatore Railway Junction, and Somanakkanpatti Railway Station near Vellore.
