As Arivazhagan took his day off on Thursday on account of Ugadi, the couple went to Puducherry.

The girl’s relatives told police that she had spoken to her father briefly around 9 p.m., and that Abirami sounded upset.

Police told reporters that the couple had an argument. Around 3.30 a.m., they jumped from the roof of their apartment and died instantly.

The relatives told police that the couple had only minor problems. They would pacify each other and become normal selves soon after. They travelled out of the city quite often.
