Work on Amma Theatres begins again

Chennai Corporation has resumed work on a popular welfare measure for commissioning Amma Theatres to offer entertainment at affordable prices. The Council is likely to pass a resolution this week for appointing design and architecture consultant of at least 18 Amma Theatres in six locations. According to the revised proposal, the civic body will construct an Amma Theatre on Basin Bridge Road in ward 52 of Royapuram Zone. The old lorry depot will be converted to Amma Theatre which is expected to attract a large number of people from north Chennai. Another Amma Theatre complex has been proposed to be constructed after demolition of old zonal office in Thiru-vi-ka Nagar Zone in ward number 73.
