A woman allegedly committed suicide by resorting to self-immolation at her house in Otteri on Thursday.
According to police, Seenivasulu (51) had come to see his daughter Asha (20), who was married Ramesh (25) a few months ago. He found the house locked from inside and smoke coming out of the windows.
He peeped in through the window and saw Asha in flames. She was taken to the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital where she succumbed to burns.
A probe by the Revenue Divisional Officer has been ordered into the incident.

In another case, Sathya (24) of Muthu Street in Purasawalkam, who was married to Madhavakannan (30), allegedly died under mysterious circumstances on Thursday. She had some suspicious marks on her neck.
