A 24-year-old woman was murdered and her husband was found with his arms and legs tied in a toilet in front of their house at Vadapalani on Thursday morning.

A native of Kancheepuram, Prabhu, 32, a temple priest and his wife Priya, 24, were living in a rented house on South Sivan Koil Street. He has been working as the priest of the Sivan Temple in Vadapalani for the last five years.

Man left unconscious

At 6.15 a.m., their house-owner Vijayalakshmi spotted Prabhu lying unconscious and tied up inside a toilet, which was located outside the house. Injuries were found on his body. Vijayalakshmi then opened the door of the house which was not locked.

To her shock, she found Priya lying in a pool of blood with her hands tied and her head smashed.

Neighbours called the police control room. Top police officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, T. Nagar, P. Aravindhan, rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry.

The initial investigation revealed that jewellery was missing from the house.

The body of the woman was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. Her husband regained consciousness after treatment in the hospital. Mr. Prabhu told the police that two persons barged into their house and assaulted them before escaping with their jewellery.

The Vadapalani police registered a case and are investigating further.
