Woman murdered, 45 sovereigns stolen from home

A 28-year-old woman was found strangled to death in her house in Sakthi Nagar near Padappai, while her husband was away at work.

According to Manimangalam police, unknown persons broke into the house and decamped with 45 sovereigns of gold jewellery after murdering the victim, Divya. Her husband Govindan is working as deputy manager of a private firm.

The couple has two children. On Tuesday, a relative who brought the children back from school found Divya lying dead in the bathroom.

Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.

They are conducting further investigations.
