Four others injured as driver loses control

A 52-year-old woman was killed after the car in which she was travelling rammed against the parapet wall of the RBI subway and fell into it on Sunday evening.

Four others in the car, including the driver suffered injuries.

A police officer from Muthialpet Traffic Investigation wing said a family of four persons had come to the city from Sri Lanka and were staying in an apartment in Mannadi. On Sunday the family had gone shopping to T. Nagar and were returning in a car when the tragedy struck. The car was proceeding on North Fort Road near the Madras High Court when the driver lost control of the vehicle and dashed against the concrete wall of the RBI Subway

Passersby rushed to help the victims and all the five persons, including driver Mutheshwaran were sent to the Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital for treatment.

However, Siddique Rizviya died.

The Muthialpet Traffic Investigation wing police registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.
