A 24-year-old woman employee of Infosys was hacked to death by a hitherto unidentified young man in Nungambakkam railway station on Friday morning.

Photo shows the suspect near the railway station after the murder.

Sources at the railway station said a man approached her as she was waiting, and soon, an argument broke out between them. Subsequently he took out a sharp weapon and hacked her to death.

"We could not see anything further as a huge crowd gathered around the woman. Soon after the attack the man fled the spot," said a shop keeper at the station.

The railway police has registered a case and are investigating.
