Woman found dead

A 23-year-old woman was found charred to death in Surapettai on Sunday, while an unidentified man, found injured at the same spot, died later in the evening.

The Puzhal police said the victim, identified as Sukanya, a resident of Puzhal, was found dead on the service road in Surapettai around 2.30 p.m. A youth, whose identity is yet to be established, was found struggling for life beside her. He was rushed to the burns ward of Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening.

A scooter was also found gutted beside the woman’s body. The police said they had no leads into the circumstances leading to the woman’s death.

The victim was working in a private company on Nelson Manickam Road, Nungambakkam, the police added.
