A pedestrian was fatally knocked down by a van on Kamarajar Salai on Monday night.
The van driver is absconding.
According to police, N. Sangeeta of Ayodhi Kuppam was walking along with her two children, aged two and three, to the beach when she was hit by a van. She died on the spot.
The two-year-old boy Vishwa sustained a head injury and a fracture on his right hand. The daughter, Madhumita, was slightly injured. The children have been admitted to the Government General Hospital.
The police have registered a case against the van driver under Section 304A of the IPC.
