Woman cheated by stranger in Anakaputhur

December 23, 2014 10:06 am | Updated 10:06 am IST - CHENNAI:

A young woman was cheated by a stranger whom she approached for help while withdrawing cash from an Automated Teller Machine in suburban Anakaputhur.

Velayudham of Kamakshi Nagar had sent his 18-year-old daughter to withdraw Rs. 200 from an ATM recently. She was unable to withdraw the cash and approached the stranger, who was waiting outside the ATM. She shared the ATM Personal Identification Number with him. The stranger withdrew Rs. 200 and also returned the card. It was only after reaching home that the woman realised that the stranger had cheated her, giving her an unused card instead of her father’s card.

When Velayudham rushed to the bank to cancel his card, he was informed that Rs. 24,000 had already been withdrawn.
