A woman who allegedly murdered her husband along with another suspect was apprehended by the Kundrathur police here on Monday.
According to police sources, Chellappa (45), a painter in Kundrathur, was found dead near his house on August 31. Police registered a case of suspicious death and later altered it to murder as post-mortem revealed that the death was caused due to strangulation.
Chennai Suburban Police Commissioner S.R. Jangid formed a special team to investigate the case. The team made enquiries in the locality and found that Chellappa's wife Devaki (32) had an illicit relationship with her neighbour Sundar (33), a mason.
Further investigation revealed that Chellappa had a heated argument with his wife a week before his death and warned her not to have any contact with Sundar. Irked over this, Devaki conspired with Sundar to eliminate Chellappa. On the night of August 31, Sundar came to Devaki's house around midnight and the two used a rope to strangulate Chellappa to death. They threw the body at an isolated place nearby. The accused persons were arrested on Monday, the sources added.
