An 18-month-old baby girl was kidnapped from her home in Varadharajapuram on Monday evening.
Police said P. Subramaniyan the father of the baby, said a family friend, Mary (46) used to visit their house frequently. On Monday at around 4.30 p.m., Mary took the baby with her to a nearby shop. When she failed to return, Subramaniyan and his family launched a search for the woman and baby but could not find them.
Police have registered a case of child abduction.
