If you walked by the Cooum about a 100 years ago, you may just have spotted the Cooum crocodile. It’s unclear how many crocodiles the river had, but the Government Museum in Egmore is believed to have one stuffed specimen. It’s hard to imagine now, but the river was also believed to have about 44 species of fish.
