Welfare board for Tamil film industry: CM

The State government on Tuesday announced the composition of the welfare board for the film industry.

The announcement follows the assurance given by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at a conference of the All India Film Employees’ Federation in October.

Information Minister [Parithi Ellamvazhuthi] would head the board while the Director for Information and Public Releations was the member-secretary. Apart from the Commissioners of Labour and Land Administration and Secretaries of the Information, Finance, Revenue and Labour-Employment departments, 12 non-official members had been appointed. Among the non-official members were Sivakumar, actor, V.C. Guhanathan, president of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), A.V.M. Balasubramanian, producer, S.P. Muthuraman, film director, and Viduthalai, president of the Federation of Small Screen Artists, according to an official release.
