June 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 10:00 am IST - CHENNAI:

While many were concerned about the heat on the first day of school, children going to who were studying in schools located on School Road, Perambur, were greeted with water on the street as they arrived to begin their new academic year. As schools had been given strict instructions to clean the premises as well as the water tanks and fill them with fresh water after the summer break, the water which had been in the tanks over the last one month had been let out, which had stagnated on the roads.

Students of the Corporation Girls Middle and Higher Secondary Schools were seen navigating the stretch on the platforms. The water was cleared later in the day.
