The Judicial Magistrate-I, Chengalpattu, M. Ezhilarasi, on Thursday issued a warrant against the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Raja Rajan, since he had failed to give evidence in a bomb threat-cum-extortion case filed in 2004.

Enquiries reveal that Raja Rajan booked a case of bomb threat-cum-extortion case against three persons — Ravi Prakash, Anbarasu and Ajithkumar — based on a complaint received from Raja of Venbakkam near Chengalpattu, while he worked as the Inspector of Police, Chengalpattu Town Police Station.

Subsequently, charge sheet was filed and the Judicial Magistrate Court took up the case for hearing and started recording the evidences.

Meanwhile, Raja Rajan was elevated to the rank of DSP and is now working as the DSP, Crime Branch, Salem. Summons for his appearance in the court to record his evidences were sent to him in the past and he (Raja Rajan) failed to turn up before the court every time.

Hence, the court issued warrant against him .
