Voters in some parts of the city and suburbs have complained that they have not received their booth slips.
There have been many such complaints from Tambaram constituency. R. Krishnamurthy of Chitlapakkam said that several voters were had not yet been given the slips in his area.
No clear instructions
“When I contacted the returning officer of Tambaram constituency, he said they had finished the distribution by Wednesday and the remaining slips were with them. He added that they were yet to get clear instructions from the higher officials regarding distribution of booth slips to voters,” Mr. Krishnamurthy said.
Kancheepuram district has about 36.39 lakh voters from 11 Assembly constituencies, who can exercise their franchise in 4006 polling booths on May 16.
Kancheepuram Collector and District Election Officer R. Gajalakshmi launched the distribution in Pillayarpalayam on May 3 and appealed to the voters to vote on May 16. However, the election officials said that those who were not available in their houses during distribution of booth slips or who had not received the slips so far could get the slips in their respective polling booths on May 16.
