As many as 5.82 crore electors are on the rolls in the State as per the final list, including the supplement list released on Friday by the Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni ahead of the Assembly elections.
A total of 2,93,33,927 women, 2,88,62,973 men and 4,270 persons of the third gender have been included in the electoral rolls of the 234 Assembly constituencies in the State.
“Electors will be able to check the names on the electoral rolls online. Additional names of electors will not be included for this Assembly election. We received 2.47 lakh online applications and 1.27 lakh names have been included. Many applications submitted without any proof of address or age were rejected. At least 10 lakh names were deleted from the rolls,” said Mr. Rajesh Lakhoni.
In addition to the 21.05 lakh names in the age group of 18-19 identified as first-time voters, over 1.17 crore voters are in the 20-29 age group. A total of 1.39 crore electors are in the age group of 30-39; 1.24 crore are in the age group of 40-49; 87.32 lakh are in the age group of 50-59; 56.15 lakh are in the age group of 60-69; 26.58 lakh are in the age group of 70-79; and 8.4 lakh are above 80 years.
The Shozinganallur Assembly constituency with 6.02 lakh electors has the highest number of voters among the 234 constituencies in the State. Gandarvakottai has the lowest number of electors with 1.86 lakh on the rolls.
The Karur Assembly constituency tops in gender ratio with 1089. Madurai West with a gender ratio of 1012 is the lowest in the State.
Maduravoyal accounted for the highest number of third gender enrolled at 127. Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar (103), Ambattur (103), Velachery (90) and Tiruvottiyur (89) are the top five constituencies with significant third gender voters.
Shozinganallur has the highest number of electors; Gandarvakottai lowest
