Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam principal secretary and Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veeraswami on Tuesday said All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary had no locus standi to demand the roll back of power tariff hike.

In a statement, he said the power tariff was increased twice during the previous tenure of the AIADMK. Then, the tariff was increased for those domestic consumers who consumed 100 units a month and 200 units a month also. But, now the hike is only in respect of those who consumed over 300 units a month. There is no hike for various categories including local bodies, hut dwellers and power loom-handloom weavers.
