AIADMK leader and Social Welfare Minister B. Valarmathi has responded to the notice issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding her speech in Salem recently which the opposition DMK had termed defamatory.

“She has responded to the notice and it has been sent to the ECI,” Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni said.

The DMK had taken strong exception to the Minister’s alleged defamatory speech targeted at its senior leaders and had reportedly handed over recording of the speech to the EC.
