Excellence in education lies in the formation of an authentic self and the expansion of that self to encompass the whole humanity, said Rohit Dhankar, Professor and Director, School of Education at the Azim Premji University Bengaluru. He was delivering the seventh memorial oration on ‘Dimensions of excellence in education’ at the annual function of the Kuruvila Jacob Initiative for promoting excellence in school education. He addressed teachers who had undergone programmes from the initiative.

Mr. Dhankar went on to say: “It is also important to use methods or pedagogy which is in tune with the learners and connects with them”. The conveners of the initiative, S. Viji, and N. Murali, Co-Chairman, Kasturi and Sons Ltd., spoke about the late educationist Kurvila Jacob and his contribution towards ensuring education gave holistic development.
