A visitor from the U.S. underwent surgery for gall bladder stones at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.
The 20-year-old woman, who complained of stomach ache, was admitted to the hospital on February 26.
The woman, who hails from Arizona, was initially taken to a private hospital. Since she did not have sufficient funds, a friend got her admitted to GGH, said S. Raghunandhan, the hospital’s deputy superintendent.
The women underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove the infected gall bladder.
The surgery was performed by surgical gastroenterologist D. Kannan. Health minister C. Vijaya Baskar visited her on Wednesday.
The woman will be discharged on Thursday, said Dr. Raghunandhan.
