A software engineer was found hanging in his Mylapore home on Sunday morning. The police said just a few hours earlier, he had argued with his wife over her uploading pictures of the couple on Facebook. His parents, who were against the marriage and wanted to find another bride for him, were unhappy at his being tagged in the pictures.
Chandan Kumar (29), a native of Jharkand and Sandhya got married three months ago in the face of his parents’ opposition. A police officer said Chandan’s parents feared the pictures would be an obstacle to finding a bride for him.
Chandan and Sandhya argued over this issue till 2 a.m. on Sunday and he went off to sleep in his room while Sandhya slept in the hall. Around 9.45 a.m. on Sunday morning, she went inside his room and found him dead, said the source. The Mylapore police registered a case and investigation is on.
Chandan and his wife lived in an apartment on Appu Street in Mylapore. They worked in a software company in Alwarpet. “Sandhya’s parents conducted their marriage but Chandan’s parents did not attend it,” said the police source.
