March 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - CHENNAI:

During the fourth round of talks with officials of the transport department, representatives of trade unions vehemently opposed the implementation of the ‘new pension scheme’ for staff who joined before 2003.

General secretary of the Tamil Nadu unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) A. Soundararajan said: “The government recommended a wage revision on par with electricity board workers, which was implemented two years ago. We refused this as it is not applicable to transport department workers,” Mr. Soundararajan said.
