Udhayam Theatre receives threat

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - CHENNAI:

Questions were raised over the release of actor Ajith Kumar’s Yennai Arindhal at Udhayam Theatre on Tuesday after its office received a letter stating that there would be an explosion upon its release on February 5.

According to city police, the staff of the cinema hall alerted the manager upon receiving the letter. “In the letter, it was mentioned that if the Ajith movie is released in the theatre, there would be an explosion. The threat was specific to the cinema hall and not to rest of the halls planning to screen the film. The sender remains anonymous,” said an officer.

A representative of film’s producer said they are not worried about the bomb threat and confirmed the movie will release on February 5. He further stated that the release of the film is not in doubt as the threat was specific to the theatre and not the film.
