Two women run over

A 49-year-old woman died on the spot when she was hit by the super fast Vaigai Express near Chromepet railway station at around 1 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the Government Railway Police, Tambaram, Radha Lakshmi of Santhanakrishnan Street in Nehru Nagar, was crossing the railway track below the road overbridge at MIT Gate when the accident took place.

In Maraimalai Nagar, a 60-year-old woman died on the spot after she was hit by an EMU. The incident took place around noon. The identity of the woman is yet to be established.
