Two men, including a police head constable, were killed in separate road accidents near Tambaram since Sunday night.
On Sunday night, a motorcyclist died when he rammed into a stationary lorry near Vengambakkam bus stop on Vandalur – Kelambakkam Road. The lorry was parked on the road side after one of its tyres punctured. The driver had not switched on the warning light and there was not enough street illumination. Three motorcycles rammed into the lorry one after the other. Gnaanaprakasam (29) of Rathinamangalam village sustained critical injuries and was admitted at a private hospital in Chromepet, where he succumbed to injuries.
James (52), a head constable attached with the St. Thomas Mount Traffic Police (Investigation), was returning to his house in Pozhichalur on a motorcycle. He was travelling on the service road of Chennai Bypass. Near CTO Colony, West Tambaram when he lost control of the motorcycle, that skidded on the margins. He died on the spot.
