Two more Metro stations get parking lots

March 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 06, 2016 01:16 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Two parking lots have come up at Ekkatuthangal and Vadapalani Metro Rail stations.

According to officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), this facility was not provided initially owing to lack of space, but sometime ago, special provisions were made for it. “We realised that the ridership has slightly increased and people may want to make use of this facility,” an official said.

Each of these two stations has a capacity to hold about 100 two-wheelers, he added.

“Several office-goers have been using this facility ever since it was started sometime ago; the parking lot at Vadapalani station is quite full on most weekdays,” an official said. Chennai Metro Rail started its first service in July last between Koyambedu and Alandur.

When the service started, only Koyambedu, Arumbakkam, Ashok Nagar and Alandur had parking facilities.
