Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal on Thursday referred two more issues, involving Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) MLAs, to the privileges committee of the House. On Wednesday he referred two issues to the committee.
One of the Thursday’s issues was related to an interview given by DMDK whip V.C. Chandrakumar to The Hindu about the request submitted by five other party members to the Chief Minister’s office. The issue was raised by chief government whip Vaigai Chelvan.
In the interview, Mr. Chandrakumar had said the five members – L.Venkatesan, P. Sampathkumar, T. Sureshkumar, K. Thinakaran and K. Nallathambi – had approached the Chief Minister’s office for an appointment to discuss issues concerning their constituencies. Another issue was raised by C.K. Tamilarasan, who alleged, that despite knowing well that it was the Chief Ministers’ secretary who managed her appointments, the DMDK members had approached the Speaker for arranging a meeting with the Chief Minister.
The DMDK members are V.C. Chandrakumar, S. Senthilkumar, R. Arulselvan, D. Murugesan and R. Santhi. This issue was also referred to the privileges committee.
