When the two motorcyclists were near the Government Higher Secondary School in Pallikaranai the speeding lorry rammed into the vehicle, killing Umapathy and Anand.
Dhanasekar sustained minor injuries on his legs. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital by passersby.
Traffic police arrested Sanjay Gandhi (25) from Aruppukottai, driver of the lorry, sources said.

Accidents keep happening and neither the police nor the government wants to control them.Traffic police is for namesake and they are seen on important roads only. You can never see them in all parts of chennai. Their service is pathetic and the time is set for privatising the traffic policing. The government will not allow them but how many more deaths to follow in road accidents. The entire police machinery should be privatised for better citizen service.
