Two killed after auto rams bus

Two people died on the spot and two others were injured when an autorickshaw collided with a State government bus near Chengalpattu on Grand Southern Trunk Road on Tuesday.

Kancheepuram district police said Ilayaperumal (40) of T. Nagar was driving his auto in which his relatives Latha (27), Logesh (19) and Senthamaraiselvi (20), all belonging to Anna Nagar, were travelling.

They were returning to Chennai after attending the funeral of a relative in Gudalur village nearby. At Padalam intersection, the bus took a right turn to enter the road leading to Vedanthangal, when the auto rammed the bus, police sources said.

Ilayaperumal and Latha died on the spot while Logesh and Senthamaraiselvi were injured and are being treated at the Chengalpattu Government Medical College and Hospital.
