Two judges sworn in

Two new judges of the Madras High Court were sworn-in on Monday by Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and administered the oath of office.

With the swearing-in of Justices Huluvadi G. Ramesh and Rajiv Shakdher, who have been transferred from the High Courts of Allahabad and Delhi respectively, the judges’ strength of the High Court has increased to 42. The court has a sanctioned strength of 75 judges.

The brief swearing-in ceremony organised on the campus of the High Court was attended, among others, by Advocate General A.L. Somayaji, Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Chairman D. Selvam and Madras High Court Advocates Association president R.C. Paul Kanagaraj.
