: A special team of the Thoraipakkam police formed to investigate the daring robbery of Rs.30 lakh cash belonging to the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation arrested two of the five persons involved in the case and recovered Rs.23.8 lakh from them.
According to police sources, the team working under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Adyar) K.A. Senthil Velan followed a tip-off and apprehended Irfanul of Assam and Rajendran in Avadi. A major part of the money robbed was recovered.
Investigation revealed that Amanullah, a former employee of ISS SDB Security Service Private Limited, had masterminded the robbery along with others. The case pertains to the robbery in which a gang got into a car in Thoraipakkam and forced the driver to go towards Pallikaranai on Monday. They took Rs.30 lakh cash collected by the ISS SDB security agency from 20 Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) outlets of TASMAC and escaped. The money was to have been deposited in a private bank the next day.
“We are on the look out for Imanullah and his associates Bilal and Noor Ali of Assam. The accused persons arrested were produced in a city court and remanded to judicial custody,” Dr. Senthil Velan said.
