The anti-gangster operations squad of the Central Crime Branch, on Tuesday, arrested two gangsters involved in murder and other criminal activity in Kotturpuram and Mambalam.

The squad, led by additional deputy commissioner, S. Jayakumar, rounded up Sekar alias Auto Sekar (45), a resident of Moorthy Street, West Mambalam, and Siva Subramanium (39), a resident of Puspavathi Amman Koil Street, West Mambalam, during combing operations to nab gangsters operating in the city.

Sekar and Siva are part of a gang led by Kotturpuram Kanthan and were involved in the murder of DMDK functionary Hariharan in Kotturpuram in 2011.

While Siva is wanted in five cases, including two murders, Sekar has been on the run and has four cases against him, including the 2011 murder, said a CCB officer. The duo was remanded to custody and sent to Puzhal prison on Wednesday.
