Sleuths of the Cyber Crime Cell of the CB-CID arrested two persons from Udaipur in Rajasthan on the charge of sending a Short Messaging Service and cheating a person from Paramakudi.

Muthulakshmi, wife of Sonaimuthu of Paramakudi, received an SMS in June 2012 stating that she had won a prize of £7,50,000 and Honda Motor UK award. Her husband deposited Rs. 8,69,490 in four bank accounts in Mumbai and Rajasthan. However, Sonaimuthu neither got the prize money nor his deposit.

He lodged a complaint with the District Crime Branch, Ramanathapuram. The case was subsequently transferred to the CB-CID.
