Two Chennai gangsters held

The anti-gangster operations squad of the city police on Thursday arrested two aides of one of Chennai’s most notorious gangsters, Ravi alias ‘Kalvettu’ Ravi.

The arrests were made as part of the hunt for Ravi.

According to S. Jayakumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the squad, N. Jeeva (27) of Tondiarpet and Prem Kumar (31) of New Washermenpet were involved in the murder of ‘Ottavadai’ Shanmugam in 2009.

They are also suspects in many attempt to murder cases. Ravi, an accused in over 20 cases was booked under the Goondas Act last year and lodged at Palayamkottai prison.

He was released recently and has gone into hiding since.
