With the aim of allowing people to celebrate the new year at low cost, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in association with Digitals Event and Management and Entertainment would host a series of cultural programmes at Island ground here on December 31.

“A series of programmes, including live orchestra, dance show, mimicry, comedy show, aerial fire display and fun game show will be organised at Anna auditorium in island ground as part of new year celebrations”, TTDC Managing Director A C Mohandoss told reporters here today.

He said ticket prices for the programmes, to be held from 9 PM to 1 AM from December 31, would range from Rs 100 to Rs 500. “A separate food court would be setup in the venue for providing a variety of cuisines to visitors”, he said.

Mr. Mohandoss also said TTDC would organise its 37th India Tourist Industrial Fair from Dec 24 where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi would be inaugurating the exhibition.

Stating that more than 17 lakh people had visited last year’s fair, he said this year more than 20 lakh people are expected to visit the exhibition, where more than 25 state departments would be setting up their stalls.

He said TTDC also planned to organise ‘Indian Dance Festival 2011’ at Mamallapuram from December 25 to January 25.
