Orphanages, Tamil scholars to be recognised for efforts

Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy Chettiar of Chettinad Charitable Trust invites applications for the Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar Award for Tamil scholars and Kumara Rajah M.A.M. Muthiah Chettiar Award presented to orphanages.

The trust presents awards to encourage best orphanages and promote Tamil literature. It invites applications from serving / retired Tamil professors and scholars involved in research or those who have already done research in Tamil language can apply for the award. The award carries cash prize, citation and a trophy. The application must have details about articles / thesis / books published, participation in seminars and number of re search scholars they have guided, said a press release.

Similarly, awards would be given to best orphanages and homes for disabled persons in the State. Institutions must send in their applications with details such as information on registration and on persons managing the institutions, number of years in service, facilities available and reasons on why the institution or non-governmental organisation must be considered for the award.

The applicants must send their details to Dr.MAM Ramaswamy Chettiar of Chettinad Charitable Trust, 82, Santhome High Road, R.A.Puram on or before August 25. The awards will be presented at a function to be held to commemorate birthdays of the family members of Dr.Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar in September.
